MaineHealth Maine Medical Center (MMC), the state’s largest tertiary care hospital with over 900 beds and a key teaching affiliate of Tufts University School of Medicine, seeks a Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab to lead a high performing team within a nationally recognized cardiovascular program.
About MMC Cardiac Catheterization Team
High-volume Cath Lab:Our advanced cardiac catheterization program performs approximately 1,500 PCI procedures annually and 6,000–7,000 catheter-based procedures each year, providing exceptional clinical breadth and leadership impact.
Structural Heart Excellence:The Structural Heart Team performs 500+ structural procedures annually (e.g., TAVR, TEER, LAAO, ASD/PFO), supported by a robust multidisciplinary valve clinic model.
Research & Innovation:The interventional team is actively involved in multiple clinical trials across coronary intervention and structural heart—with opportunities for PI leadership, program development, and scholarly output.
State-of-the-art Facilities:Practice in MMC’s new Malone Family Tower, featuring modern procedure environments, hybrid capabilities, and patient-centered design built for complex cardiovascular care.
Integrated, Academic Environment:The MMC Portland campus is the hub for cardiovascular innovation across MaineHealth, with seamless collaboration among interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery, EP, imaging, and advanced heart failure.
Key Responsibilities
Set clinical direction for interventional cardiology and structural programs, advancing outcomes, access, and growth.
Lead quality, safety, and operational excellence for the catheterization lab
Strengthen multidisciplinary collaboration across the cardiovascular service line. Grow research and clinical trial participation
Mentor faculty, fellows, residents, students and APPs.
Qualifications
MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
Board certification in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology.
Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in Interventional Cardiology.
Demonstrated leadership in clinical or academic settings.
Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Maine.
