The role you’ll contribute:
The ICU Cardiopulmonary Unit (CPU) Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating the management of clinical practice activities for the nursing unit(s) under his/her charge. The Nurse Manager assumes 24-hour accountability by setting measurable goals and objectives so that optimum quality patient care is delivered, and staff is developed to exert care in a professional caring manner. The Nurse Manager will report to and work with the CV Services Director to provide oversight of CPU, Cardiovascular Scheduling, and Cardiovascular PAT, providing functions that include patient care management, physician relation, human resources, and quality care activities for the respective areas. The Nurse Manager will evaluate patient care, operational efficiencies, performance methods and employee issues, and make recommendations for improvement, participates in outstanding customer service, and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships what are equally respectful to all. This position will directly, and indirectly, advise/manage service areas that impact patient care for the Cardiovascular patient population.

Along with the Director of CV Services, maintains 24-hour coverage and leadership for the department., also serving as the liaison for the CV Services procedural areas and nursing units.
Responsible for Managing all personnel on nursing unit(s)
Conducts interviews and hires best qualified candidate to fill vacancies. Candidates can be new employees or transfers within the facilities.
Maintains high levels of employee engagement and job performance by providing recognition and opportunities for learning.
Responsible for development conversations on all unit staff.
Promotes professional growth of staff.
Prioritizes and effectively communicates priorities and delegates duties, accordingly, ensuring appropriate shift and call coverage as needed.
Maintains and drives budgeted volumes and productivity. Maintains patient cost-effective capital equipment and supply inventories.
Articulates concept of nursing hours per patient day and approved targets.
Maximizes productivity and quality of patient care within established target hours.
Ensure that Quality Patient Care is provided on units.
Maintains knowledge of scope of practice of all staff as defined by State Board of Nursing and hospital Policy and Procedure.
Makes patient rounds on routine basis to assess, problem solve, and provide customer service.
Prepares, analyzes, reviews, and monitors operational and capital budgets for assigned unit(s).
Coordinates and promotes Performance Improvement plan in unit.
Promotes Balanced Scorecard.
Communicates effectively with staff.
Holds monthly staff meetings for all shifts of unit staff. Communicates information about unit, nursing department and hospital.
Communicates necessary patient information to Director of Nursing and Risk Management that may have significant impact on nursing department and hospital.
Represents the Philosophy of Nursing and Administration.
Participates in ongoing educational activities for Specialty area as well as management seminars.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree of Nursing (BSN)
Current State of Florida licensure as a Registered Nurse
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Current Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification
Minimum of five years nursing experience
Previous leadership and/or supervisor experience
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work effectively as a leader and team member with other department leaders throughout the facility and organization.
Ability to develop and maintain professional rapport with physicians and their office representatives.
Demonstrates leadership ability, and a commitment to education as a methodology for promoting continuous quality improvements in the delivery of patient care and services.
Preferred qualifications:
Previous Cardiovascular Services experience
Previous pre and post ambulatory care experience
Knowledge of CV Surgery, Cath Lab, and quality improvement in the delivery of patient care and services.
Knowledge of Interventional procedures
