JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to provide patient and provider support by using ultrasound imaging technologies to aid in diagnosing and treating cardiac conditions at Duke Cardiology of Cary, 540 New Waverly Place Cary NC, South Durham Cardiology at 234 Crooked Creek Parkway Durham NC and support for coverage at other new PDC Cardiology locations.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Consistently demonstrates with accuracy performance of routine and emergency echocardiograms, including but not limited to 2-dimensional, 3- dimensional, Doppler, Color Doppler, Strain and Stress Echocardiogram, as requested by physicians following the PDC Echocardiography lab protocol, while maintaining the expected labor standard of 1 procedure per hour, including accurate preliminary reporting.
Operate GES70, GEE95, Philips and other ultrasound equipment necessary to perform all required procedures. Appropriately uses echo reporting system, ISCV, Muse, and GE Case systems. Maintain equipment in working order, making minor adjustments and notify appropriate resources for repairs.
Ability to thoroughly, and efficiently, evaluate pathology following current guidelines (American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), American College of Cardiology (ACC), etc).
Participate in all required aspects of quality improvement activities as needed for Joint Commission, and IAC-Echo Accreditations. This would include evaluation of procedure results for technical quality and accuracy; maintain appropriate logs, files, and records. Attends required staff meetings and ensures ensuring continuing education requirements met to support professional growth and certification.
Perform pre arrival assessment of patient's medical record to obtain history of symptoms and necessary information for performance of diagnostic procedures. Communicates technical and patient care related information according to established processes and timelines
Respond to patient questions about procedures and equipment prior to starting the imaging process.
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Graduate of an accredited formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology Program is required (may substitute with ARDMS certification on or before December 31, 2000).
Level I - Must obtain ARDMS or CCI certifications Echocardiography as required by each entity within 18 months of employment. Level II - Minimum of two years' experience as a Sonographer. Level III - A minimum of four years' experience (within specialty modality) in which they are seeking promotion.
