ChristianaCare is seeking a Cardiac Intensivist for our growing critical care team.
The successful candidate will provide daily clinical management for the adult population in our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. This is a shared 27-bed unit caring for both Cardiothoracic Surgery and Cardiology patients, approximately half of which are primary medical, average census 10-14 patients. The Intensivist cares for patients with advanced cardiac disease including cardiogenic shock requiring use of mechanical circulatory support (IABP, Impella, ProtekDuo)/invasive hemodynamic monitoring, advanced arrhythmia, and acute coronary syndrome in the 3rd busiest STEMI center in the nation. The Intensivist leads multidisciplinary rounds for cardiac patients and participates in cardiac surgical rounds. He/she will be actively involved in teaching cardiology fellows, APPs, and residents.

- A dedicated ICU team consisting of critical care, interventionalists and advanced heart failure cardiologists and APPs providing 7 day/week coverage to the unit.
- Opportunity for 7 on/7 off coverage
- Evening/Night call will be by phone and is rotated amongst dedicated CICU Attending team with cardiology CICU APP and Fellow coverage onsite for offshifts and weekends.
- ChristianaCare Cardiovascular Consultants practice is a large, progressive, hospital-based cardiology group that includes 25 cardiologists, 4 cardiology hospitalists, and 16 advanced practice clinicians. Christiana Care employs a dedicated Advanced Heart Failure staff including 5 physicians. In addition, there are 8 dedicated CICU APCs with 2 additional active job postings.
- Progressive, innovative care in a busy clinical practice. The Center for Heart and Vascular Health at Christiana Hospital saw 1,800 chest pain admissions and performs over 3,000 cardiac catheterizations, 1,400 PCIs, 1,600 EP procedures and 880 cardiac surgical procedures annually. The Center also provides advanced heart failure services including placement and management of left-ventricular assist devices.
- Opportunities to participate in teaching of Cardiology Fellows and house staff and engagement in clinical research. ChristianaCare is affiliated with the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. In addition, the Center partners with the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) for cardiac transplantation and transplant medicine services.
- Collaborate with other members of the section of Cardiology that also includes diverse community-based practices.
Qualified applicants will possess:
- BC in cardiology and fellowship trained and BC/BE in critical care or
- BC/BE in critical care and BC/BE Advanced Heart Failure or
- BC in critical care with demonstrated Cardiology ICU experience
- Must have the ability to be licensed in the State of Delaware and meet credentialing requirements
