Job Summary
The Cardiac Device Clinic Coordinator functions in a highly specialized and unique area and requires a high level of clinical acumen and independence. The position is responsible for Device Clinic under the supervision of the Electrophysiology physician and clinic practice manager. This includes but is not limited to device evaluation and reprogramming based on the results of testing in a manner consistent with basic principles or cardiac pacing. Plans, organizes, and directs day to day operations of the Device Clinic personal, staff education, long-range and short-range planning, space and equipment maintenance, and device clinic staff schedules. Responsible for travel to and ensuring the delivery of the highest clinical standards at all device clinics. Interrogates, tests, and reprograms Implanted Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICD) and Pacemaker (PM), and triages all device alerts and route accordingly to physician. Participates in development of departmental goals and objectives. Administers and ensures compliance in departmental policies and procedures in accordance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines. Ensures center maintains compliance with agency requirements such as CLIA, DHR, OSHA, etc. Graduate of allied health program, including but not limited to nursing, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, biomedical engineering and certification from appropriate device training center required. Competent in rhythm interpretation International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) or Certified Clinical Device Specialist (CCDS) through HRS or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist. National Heart Examiners License strongly preferred. Current GA RN preferred.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Licensure or other certifications: Licensed Registered Nurse or Cardiovascular Technologist and BLS Certification.
Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree.
Minimum Experience: Five (5) years experience with cardiac devices or combination of appropriate clinical license or certificate from an accredited program and experience to demonstrate competency. A minimum of one (1) year as a lead or other relevant supervisory experience required.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Responsible for Device Clinic operations at all clinic locations under the supervision of the Electrophysiology Physicians and clinic practice manager, including Device evaluation and reprogramming based on the results of testing in a manner consistent with basic principles of cardiac pacing and per a Physician's order. Responsible for system data entry and reporting, chart documentation and billing data generation.
Assist with Device Clinic research as needed.
Prepare and update Device Clinic policies and procedures.
Manage and triage remote alerts.
Coordinate duties and needs of the clinic in conjunction with Practice Manager to ensure an efficient and effective operation.
Assist in the development of a departmental budgets and manages expenses and operations within defined parameters.
Maintain Device Clinic equipment with ensuring equipment is operating to manufacturer's specifications. Maintains supplies at appropriate levels.
Manage attendance/punctuality according to NGHS policy.
Ensure center maintains compliance with governing agency requirements, such as CLIA, DHR, OSHA, etc.
Participate in the recruiting, hiring, orientation, development, and evaluation of staff.
Respond to and resolve Physician concerns if appropriate and forwarding any unresolved concerns to the Practice Manager.
Communicate employee issues with the Practice Manager and resolve issues according to process established.
Develop guidelines for prioritizing work activities, evaluating effectiveness, and modifying staff activities/work assignments as necessary.
Participate in performance improvement activities, maintain ongoing clinical knowledge through internal/external training programs, provide interpretation of knowledge and direction to clinical staff.
Resolve any patient care issues or patient complaints.
Ensure service quality and participate in care coordination to ensure proper communication between caregivers, patients, referral sources and payers. Discuss operational issues, update staff on new/changed regulations and reviews records/documentation to ensure regulatory and in-house compliance.
