The Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute of Northwestern Medicine and the Division of Cardiac Surgery of The Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University are seeking a surgeon to lead the robotic cardiac surgery program at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
This is a full-time position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor. Qualified candidates must have completed training in robotic cardiac surgery and be in active practice including the use of the surgical robot to perform cardiac operations. Candidates must have completed an ACGME accredited thoracic surgery training program, and be certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
The position includes responsibility for leading and growing the clinical practice in robotic cardiac surgery, an outpatient practice within Northwestern Medical Group and inpatient service at Northwestern Memorial Hospital as well as education of medical students, thoracic surgery residents and advanced fellows. A background in clinical outcomes research is preferred. In addition to robotic and minimally invasive cases, candidates will participate in all aspects of cardiac surgery care including call, and should have experience with complex cardiac surgery and aortic emergencies.
Employment will be with the Northwestern Medical Group and Feinberg School of Medicine’s Division of Cardiac Surgery led by Dr. Douglas Johnston. Preferred candidates will play a vital role in the growth and coordination of care and distinctive program development throughout the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute System and will have significant opportunities for leadership advancement throughout Northwestern Medicine. Salary is commensurate with experience.
