Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, is seeking a full-time employed Interventional Cardiologist in the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology, at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor.
The incoming Interventional Cardiologist will have a focus on complex coronary interventions, chronic total occlusions, intracoronary imaging, rotational/orbital atherectomy and other advanced intracoronary therapies. Insertion of mechanical circulatory support devices (including intra-aortic balloon pump, left ventricular assist devices such as Impella CP, Impella 5.0 and 5.5, right ventricular assist devices, VV and VA ECMO for high risk procedures as well as supporting the Cardiogenic Shock Program is essential.
Candidate would be expected to develop a robust outpatient practice. That would be divided between performing procedures in the catheterization laboratory at Jefferson Center City, outpatient practice at the Jefferson Heart Institute in Center City and/or a satellite location with a focus on complex coronary artery disease. Call would be 1:6 for nights and weekends with equal rotation through holidays. The role would also include taking an active part in teaching Interventional fellows, Cardiovascular Disease fellows, medical house staff and medical students. Research productivity commensurate with experience and interests would be expected. Administrative/Research time equivalent to ½ day per week would be offered.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
MD or DO from an Accredited Program – Required
Board certification in Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology.
CHIP Fellowship training is recommended but not required.
The ability to obtain a medical license in the Commonwealth of PA prior to start date
The Jefferson Heart Institute is the center of the division’s outpatient clinical practice, including patient testing, anticoagulation program, cardiovascular risk reduction program, and the Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Center. In addition to the Jefferson Heart Institute, the Division of Cardiology operates three outpatient satellite facilities and the newly opened Jefferson Angioplasty Center located in the Jefferson University Hospital.
The Division of Cardiology at Thomas Jefferson University is composed of 36 full-time academic cardiologists in an expanding multidisciplinary practice in a supportive environment, with strong clinical, research and teaching programs; including Critical Care Cardiology, a nationally recognized Structural and Interventional Cardiology section, a highly experienced Electrophysiology subdivision, and an expert Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant program.
