This position is responsible for the maintenance and preservation of confidential electronic health records. This position performs a variety of HIM tasks related to one or more of the following services: record completion, document imaging, release of information, birth registration, health record forms management and customer support.

The starting wage for this position is $20/hr!
Reviews records to monitor for requirements of documentation to include specific elements, quality and timeliness, and to communicate to the providers and others the findings of the reviews.
Performs manual and electronic document imaging tasks that ensure timely and accurate uploading of scanned imagines into the correct health record under the correct date. Performs retrospective review (certification) to monitor that these goals are maintained.
Receives, organizes, and processes requests for records. Requests and releases involve multiple work streams, to include US mail, email, fax, phone and in person. Work is performed using multiple applications and peripheral tools. All releases uphold HIM practice standards and meet regulatory guidelines.
Performs birth registration tasks to include new parent discussions to share and gather information. Reviews health record to enter specific details required by Health Analytics and Vital Records (HAVR) into state birth registration program. Prepares documents for parent(s). Communicates with unit nursing staff, parent(s), HAVR personnel and others regarding birth registration as necessary.
Manages medical record forms and may participate in Forms Committee. Maintains the organization's EHR forms database. Works closely with forms vendor personnel. Performs administrative tasks such as develop and maintain databases and reports related to HIM business to include but not limited to department scorecard, organizational chart, forms use reporting and various ad hoc reports and business tools as needed.
Performs routine health record database maintenance activities. Works closely with providers and clinical staff on documentation corrections, addenda, deletions as necessary or requested, and to assist with documentation questions.
Performs a variety of other support tasks to assist customers, such as troubleshoot dictation/transcription issues and requests, orient providers on Dragon/voice recognition applications and use of the EHR, assist with patient portal enrollment, manage telephone and in-person requests, point of contact for HIM related questions. Perform other duties as assigned by HIM leadership or other FHP leadership as needed.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Foundation Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.
Requires high school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge of health information practices and principles as normally demonstrated through completion of one or more years of post-high school education in medical records and information systems OR one or more years of experience working in an office setting, medical records and/or health information management.
Accurate keyboarding skills (min. 30 wpm). Ability to use peripheral equipment such as a bar code scanners, printers, fax machine, copier and scanners. Requires strong computer skills in the use of multiple software applications and databases.
Must be able to organize and prioritize work. Must demonstrate good judgment, initiative, problem-solving abilities, and effective time management. Must demonstrate professional verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and within a team environment. Ability to partner professionally with co-workers, staff from other departments, external customers and patients.
Current enrollment in the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information
Administrator (RHIA) Program.
Completed course(s) in medical terminology.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
