JOB SUMMARY:
The Cardiac Monitor Technician II (CMT II) proficiently performs continuous observation and analysis of ECG patterns for patients on telemetry. The CMT II notifies the appropriate nursing staff and physicians within a designated hospital unit of changes from baseline, abnormal heart rhythm patterns, and abnormal ECG interval measurements. The CMT II takes a leadership role in rhythm interpretation, dysrhythmia recognition, and continuous education of assigned CMT I. The CMT II is competent in medical terminology and possesses technical, communication, organizational, and computer skills. The CMT II demonstrates and role models personal and professional effectiveness.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Licensure/Specialized Training:
a. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent or completion of Cardiac Monitor Tech training course from an accredited school required.
b. Licensure/Certification: Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required upon hire.
Work Experience: Two (2) years centralized cardiac monitoring experience in a hospital required.
Equipment Operated: Area-specific
Skills/Knowledge: Completes CBT modules one, two and three (1, 2 & 3) within the six (6) week orientation period.
