The Cardiology Procedure Lab Staff Nurse, a member of the Department of Hospital and Specialty Medicine Division (DHSM) at the VA Portland Health Care System, provides care in the Cardiac Catheterization (Cath) Lab, Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, Hybrid Operating Room and Echocardiology (Echo) Labs. The Cardiology Procedure Lab Staff Nurse demonstrates teamwork to complete complex procedures including high-risk coronary intervention, rotational atherectomy, intra-aortic balloon pump, ventricular assist devices, implantable antiarrhythmic devices, cryoablation and radio frequency ablation, as well as transcatheter aortic valve replacements for very critical patients.
